About Our School!

Pecos Elementary School is located in the Southeastern portion of Roswell, New Mexico. It is home to approximately 400 children in grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade. In order to meet the needs of our students, we have one Bilingual class in each grade level. Our teachers, including Special Education and Title One staff are dedicated to providing our Pecos students with a quality education in a safe, welcoming environment.

Pecos Elementary Success Stories

For the fourth year in a row, Pecos had more students proficient in Math on the NMSBA than any other elementary school in Roswell. Pecos had 65.76% of the students in Grades 3-5 score proficient or above in math.  Pecos was the third highest in Reading with 61.16% proficient.  The staff and students at Pecos continue to work hard to keep these scores up.  The state now wants every student to show growth.  Parents can help Pecos by encouraging your student to do their best on the test.  If every student scores just one more question correct than last year, Pecos can show this growth.

The theme at Pecos this year is "Teaming Up for Success".  Pecos needs the staff, students and parents working together to bring about the required growth for Pecos.  Because Pecos has been doing so well in past years, the challenge is harder for our students.  But Pecos will rise to the task and continue to improve.

Parents, continue to read every night with your student.  Remember to ask questions about what they are reading.  Ask questions that start with "why, what will happen next, can you summarize the story".  Read, read, read because-the more you read…the SMARTER you get!
