Dear Parents and Students:
As a longtime resident of southeastern New Mexico it is my sincere pleasure and honor to serve as the new principal of University High School and reconnect as member of this great school district and community. The Roswell Independent School District enjoys a rich history of academic and cultural excellence that is a direct result of the partnership between the teachers, students, parents, and community members. At University High School we will work to strengthen these relationships to create a foundation of support for Chaves County.
My former positions have included being a teacher, coach, technology coordinator, assistant principal, and principal in both New Mexico and Colorado. While each school district is unique, I find that a student-centered approach to education is something that characterizes all great schools. Developing an atmosphere where the parents, staff, and community leaders can collaboratively work together each day for student excellence is my vision. I am very excited to be a part of the RISD family and look forward to working closely with everyone to make our school even better.
My goal is to provide leadership that will facilitate a school environment of rigor, respect and rapport. We hope to create programs of study that will challenge and produce quality members of our local society. The educational program will be academically challenging and engaging each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and future employment goals. It is my inherent belief that the parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an important role in encouraging our children to become active learners. It is my sincere desire to provide expanded opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society.
Working together as a community with all those associated with University High School, I am confident we can fulfill our mission to graduate our students with an educational foundation for success as responsible contributors to society.
