Healthy Kids Healthy Communities Fact Sheet 2019-20.pdf

Hello Everyone!  We hope this email finds everyone in good health!  We wanted to update our supporters on what we have accomplished this school year and what we are currently doing during the COVID-19 Quarantine.

Just a few highlights:

- Our 521O Mayor's Challenge and Eat Smart to Play Hard programs were both great successes.

- We received a Whole Foods Grant  for $800.00  to update and enlarge the gardens at Nancy Lopez.

- The cafeteria cooked carrots grown at Pecos Elementary and the students were served them with their lunches.

- Walk and Roll to School in October, Weekly Walking programs, and Healthy Fundraisers were great fun for all who participated!

- Progress was made updating and completing School Wellness Policies.

- BMIS were completed for all students in Chaves County public schools.

We are attaching our state Healthy Kids Healthy Communities and the Healthy Kids Chaves County fact sheets which will provide more information.  Currently we are posting daily on our HKCC FaceBook page.  PE Coaches, County Extension, and Food Service Directors have graciously made short videos with physical activity ideas, healthy snacks and gardening tips for kids staying at home, check out our page!  A special thank you to all that have helped.

Thank you to all of you for your support and all you do for kids in Chaves County!!

Stay healthy!!  Paula Camp and Becky Joyce
