Dear Seniors and Parents,

We understand how difficult it is to lose the traditional end of the year activities and events. As the end of the school year approaches thoughts are turning to graduation. We trust that your high school graduation will pay tribute to the hard work and dedication you and your families have put into your education and reaching this milestone. The Roswell Independent School District is planning a unique alternative. We sincerely hope that this graduation will be memorable and acknowledge the culmination of your school career. The plans currently in process are listed below.

  1. The school district submitted an alternative plan for a May graduation to the Public Education Department. This plan must follow the current guidelines set forth by the Governor’s office. We are anxiously waiting to hear back from them on approval of this plan.

  2. Please save the following dates on your calendar in case we are able to hold regular graduation ceremonies.
    June 19/20, 2020
    July 17/18, 2020

We need a few days to plan for the ceremony. If the Governor’s restrictions are lifted by June 15 the ceremony will be on June 19 /20, 2020. If the restrictions are not lifted by June 15 we will plan for the July dates. If the restrictions have been lifted by July 13, the ceremony will be on July 17/18, 2020. If restrictions are not lifted by July 13, 2020, we will be unable to hold a regular graduation ceremony.

  3. In addition to the above each of our high schools will be developing a modified virtual graduation tailored specifically for each school. Your high school will communicate this information to you once plans are finalized.

If you were not included in your school yearbook and if you have not already done so, please submit your senior picture to your school principal to be used as a part of graduation recognition. Photos received will be part of a celebratory display for four weeks on the two very large electronic billboards located on 2710 North Main Street and 3204 North Main Street in Roswell.

Perhaps not what we all envisioned, we hope these plans will provide memorable graduation events that pay tribute to each of our graduating seniors. We sincerely thank you for your patience, understanding, and support in these most challenging and difficult times.
