Sunset Elementary EPSS Goals 2011-2012

 

Sunset Elementary will put into operation programs, activities and procedures for the involvement of parents. Those programs, activities and procedures will be planned and operated with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children.

The number of proficient students in reading in grades 3-5 will increase to the Annual Measurable Objective (AMO) of 81% on the 2011-12 NMSBA. The percentage of students with disabilities in grades 3-5 scoring proficient will increase in reading from 37% to 77% as measured by the 2010-2011 SBA.

The number of proficient students in math in grades 3-5 will increase to the annual measureable objective of 79% on the 2011-12 NM SBA. The percentage of students with disabilities in grades 3-5 scoring proficient will increase in Math from 30% to 68% as measured by the 2010-2011 SBA.

The percentage of the ELL students making progress in the New Mexico ACCESS for 2010-2011 will be at least 45% or higher to meet the AMAO1 target. To meet the AMAO2 target, there will be at least 2% increase of ELL students attaining English proficiency, or 12% of ELLs attain English proficiency as measured by the 2010-2011 ACCESS. Additionall, 77% of grades 3-5 will reach the prociency in SBA reading to meet the AMAO 3 target. Furthermore, 68% of grades 3-5 will attain proficiency in math to meet the AMAO 3 target.

All newly hires in the Roswell School District must be Highly Qualified when they are employed. The Human Resource staff conducts reviews of employee's status prior to the 40 day reporting period and employees are notified of any additional requirements necessary to meet Highly Qualified status. The district utilizes software programs to monitor staff licensure and teaching assignments

All students will be educated in health promoting learning environments that are safe, drug-free and engaging for students.
