Before the First Bell Rings

The 2021-2022 academic year will be here in the blink of an eye! Join us for our annual Back to School webinar, where we will discuss with you all of the enhancements that have been made to Naviance this spring and those coming later this year!

Naviance Data Rollover

The annual Naviance rollover will take place between Thursday, July 15thand Monday, August 2nd. This annual process automatically updates student accounts to the next grade level and resets eDocs for the new application year. This year, due to the upcoming release of a new student folder eDocs experience on August 2nd, the legacy eDocs experience will be disabled for all clients during the duration of the rollover period. The system will be disabled during the rollover, so all documents for students who applied to college during the 2020-2021 application year must be submitted by July 15th. As part of the rollover, all documents prepared and submitted during the past year will be archived in the “Previous Years” page of the student folder. To prepare for the data rollover, please review this Help Center resource (YOU MUST BE LOGGED INTO NAVIANCE TO ACCESS).

You’ve Been Upgraded to the New Careers Experience

On July 7th, ALL clients who have not opted into the new careers experience will be auto upgraded. This will make all our new enhancementsavailable to your school community. Enhancements include a redesigned student user interface, centralized location of assessments, and Work-based Learning access. If you have a subscription to AchieveWorks®, you will also be able to use the new AchieveWorks®Skills assessment, which helps students identify the skills they’ll need in order to be successful in their academics and the workplace.

College Letters of Recommendation Updates

As part of the upcoming summer eDocs release, we’ve updated the teacher recommendation request options. There is now a new setting in teacher recommendation settings, which will allow you to determine the request types available to students and staff.

By default, schools will be set to only allow specific college requests. This ensures that we’re meeting industry standards, and also vastly improves the user experience for teachers and students alike.

For schools that prefer to give counselors more control over determining recommendation submission decisions, the new setting can be updated to enable general requests in addition to specific college requests. This option will allow students to make general requests prior to creating their application list as well as allow counselors to submit uploaded recommendations to applications at their discretion. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact a member of your Naviance support community — your account manager, consultant, or a member of our support team.

Mark Your Calendar

As part of our product development process, we continue to solicit ongoing feedback and totestour solutions. When we release updates, we know it’s critical that they meet your needs and exceed your expectations.

Based on the feedback we’ve received thus far, we’ll be adjusting the timeline for two of our forthcoming releases — Counselor Community and College Contacts. We will hold off on releasing these updates until winter because we expect college visit travel to pick up this fall, and we want to prevent disruption to your RepVisits workflows. The updated Scholarships Experience will also be released this winter.

The Power of Partnerships

Research and experience have shown that providing the best resources to inform and support young people to explore, pursue, and succeed in postsecondary pathways is critical, but it’s only half the battle. Without effective partnerships, coordination, and communication, the level of college, career, and life readiness in our communities will not improve — especially for those who need the most support.

With data and accurate CCLR guidance serving as the foundation for the common agenda of effective partnership efforts, Naviance becomes an essential resource for the entire community. Access our FREE Partnership Engagement Toolkit to learn how you can best leverage key stakeholders to articulate your success with Naviance.
