Re-Envisioning High School Math Pathways

As valued partners, the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) invites New Mexico secondary math educators to apply to participate in developing recommendations that envisions coherent high school math pathways to ensure high-quality math education for all students.
Educators, including teachers, instruction coaches, school/district leaders, and math post-secondary educators, with experience in developing equitable standards-based instruction aligned to the context and practices of the Common Core State Standards for Math, will receive up to 64 hours of professional learning during the span of the project this school year, including:
- Participation in eight, full days (in-person + virtual), tentatively schedules for two days in February and six days from March–June;
- Collaboration virtually with colleagues and a coach on an ongoing basis to share and receive feedback on the recommendations;
- Receive a $1,200.00 stipend for your full participation in the ongoing work and completion of the project by June 23 (full stipend paid for off contract time).

The New Mexico Public Education Department is looking for talented Level II and IIIA Career & Technical Education (CTE), Computer Science, Health Education, and Physical Education, educators to fill the roles of review team leader and reviewer of record for the 7-12 CTE and K-12 Computer Science, Health Education, and Physical Education instructional material review teams. Core instructional materials for grades 7-12 CTE and K-12 Computer Science, Health Education, and Physical Education will be reviewed June 12-23, 2023 (dates subject to change), with training occurring before the Institute. The review is a rigorous process in which highly qualified teachers review instructional materials for alignment with New Mexico standards and criteria for high quality. Previous reviewers have said the experience deepened their knowledge of the standards and gave them a clearer understanding of what high quality materials should look like. This work is also of great value to the entire state.
A stipend will be provided commensurate with the work completed.
