Middle School ELA teachers

Enhanced Planning and Practice and Analytic Reading

Enhancing planning and practice Dig into one unit to unpack standards, assessments, and student engagement. Through backward planning, this session guides teachers to think deeply about learning outcomes and key moments of formative assessments. Teachers will leave this session with a detailed plan of a unit of their choice that includes learning outcomes, key assessment moments, and aligned instructional strategies.

Analytic Reading Participants will learn how close reading functions in Amplify ELA and which teacher moves will support students tackling complex texts. Participants will also learn how to facilitate a close reading session to develop key reading routines, promote academic discourse, and encourage the type of collaboration that drives analysis and deepens understanding.

Teachers grades K-2 who have worked in CKLA for 6-12 weeks who would like additional tips and tricks for unit and lesson planning and the CKLA instructional routines.

(this is the second training after the initial training)

Prerequisite training:Initial training for K–2 teachers

 

Enhancing planning & practice for K–2 teachers

Elevate program knowledge to strengthen your Amplify CKLA K–2 implementation! Understand the progression of foundational skills and focus on high-quality questioning and discussion techniques through lesson study and practice. Participants will practice implementing key instructional elements and leave with annotated lessons.

Teachers Grades 3-5 who have worked in CKLA for 6-12 weeks who would like additional tips and tricks for unit and lesson planning and the CKLA instructional routines. (This is the second training after the initial training)

Grades 3-5 Enhancing Planning and Practice

 

Prerequisite training:Initial training for 3–5 teachers

 

Enhancing planning & practice for 3–5 teachers
Elevate program knowledge to your CKLA 3–5 implementation! Deepen ability to scaffold complex texts by sequencing reading types, prioritizing questions, and using discussion techniques. Participants will practice implementing key instructional elements and leave with scaffolds for complex texts.

Teachers in grades K-2 who have been teaching CKLA for several months and are ready to look at the ARG, small group instruction, and writing within CKLA.

 

Prerequisite training:Initial training for K–2 teachers and 2–3 months of Amplify CKLA instruction

CKLA Grades K-2 Small Group Instruction and Writing

Small-group instruction for K–2 teachers

Learn how to integrate powerful intervention instruction with targeted small-group literacy lessons! Engage in a data analysis process of Skills assessments to determine next steps for remediation groups that support students' gaps in code knowledge. Deepen knowledge of theAssessment and Remediation Guideto identify differentiation opportunities for small-group instruction. Participants will leave with an instructional plan for intervention groups.

Writing for K–2 teachers

Dig into Amplify CKLA writing instruction and student work in Grades K–2! Identify writing opportunities in the Amplify CKLA Skills and Knowledge Strands through analysis of a unit and daily lessons and analyze student writing using a program-aligned rubric. Participants will leave with an annotated unit highlighting the writing opportunities and student grouping suggestions.
